Mary Kate Olsen has a twin sister named Ashley Olsen; they were born June 13, 1986 in Sherman Oaks, California to David and Jarnette Olsen.

Mary Kate Olsen together with her twin sister go into acting career in 1987 when they were picked to play the role of Michelle Tanner on a new television series, "Full House" (1987). The show became a hit with books, dolls, and other stuff being sold to publicize it, and during the years the show was on air, the Olsen twins had a TVQ which is a popularity ratingsecond only to Bill Cosby. In midst of the years of "Full House" in 1987 they teamed up with Robert Thorne and the company handling them created Dualstar.

Olsens seem that they are having a lot of fun combined, it may be because what they do as an artist is closely parallels their real-life inquisitiveness. With their favorite things to do such as acting, singing, shopping, watching MTV, enjoying outdoors activities, dancing, playing baseball which they have even suited up with the Minnesota Twins.They are also riding horses and spend quality time with their real-life family.
