Anna Paquin is a young actress who has already won and been nominated for many awards, including the Academy Award. She is most known for her roles in teen films and the X-Men movie series. Paquin was born July 24th, 1982 in Winnipeg, Canada. She has an older sister and brother. When Anna Paquin was just four, the family moved to New Zealand. When her parents divorced, Paquin went with her mother to live in Los Angeles where she finished high school.

Paquin's career in acting began completely by chance. When she was just 11 years old, the director Jane Campion held auditions for a role in the film The Piano. Paquin's sister went to try out and Anna went along. Campion spotted the girl and had her read a monologue and chose her for the part over 5000 other candidates. This role led to Anna Paquin receiving an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Even though Paquin did not plan on continuing with an acting career, she received many offers. As a teenager, Anna Paquin played roles in serious films like Jane Eyre, Amistad, and Fly Away Home.

Her biggest role was in the X-Men blockbuster hit in 2000 and the subsequent X-Men films to follow. In 2006, Paquin produced her first film called Blue State with her own production company called Paquin Films which is run with her brother Andrew. She was engaged to Stephan Moyer in 2009 after a relationship of several years. In April 2010, Anna Paquin also got attention for coming out as a bisexual and promoting LGBT equality.
